Hello everyone! I am sorry I have not updated in SO incredibly long. Blogger is slow and I get frustrated easily.

We are all doing well. Lucas is now 6 months old - 16 lbs 12oz and 25 1/2 in. Ethan is still a complete mess of a boy and keeps us on our toes all the time.

I turned 30 on September 8 and am celebrating this weekend in NYC with 3 girlfriends! I promise to take the time to post pictures of our trip. For now, here are a few of the boys.

Today marked a very special day. As a "treat" for Ethan (because he slept in his room and his bed ALL week) we got a babysitter for Lucas and took him to see Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Just Mommy, Daddy, and Ethan!! He was SO excited. We talked about how loud the movie would be, the size of the theatre, the seats, that we had to buy tickets, the whole deal.

I was truly curious to see if it would go as smoothly as we hoped! Well, I must admit...it was much better! Ethan did phenomenal. He sat it Brian's lap for the entire movie. He had an absolute blast and did a remarkable job!

I will say that part of the reason it went so well is we went to a 10:00am show at AMC on Bush River knowing the only other people that would be there at 10am on a Saturday would also have small children.

All in all, it was a good time had by all. The movie was very cute and funny. I recommend it to any families with children!

Yesterday we packed our bags and headed to Charleston to visit as many friends as we could in a day. We pulled out of the drive way at 7:35am, made a breakfast stop, one pit stop, and arrived in Charleston at 10:00am.

Our first stop was to drop Brian off at his friend's house (Bryan Davis). Then the boys and I were off to The Read's. In February 1999, Jane hired me to babysit her two boys (5 and 18 mos.) two mornings a week. The relationship grew over the years and we became family. In May 2001, I moved in with The Read's. I lived with them until February 2002 - during which time Jane was pregnant with Virginia, I was in graduate school and Brian and I were planning our wedding. It was a crazy time but I loved it! Jane sang at our wedding and both of the boys were attendants. The Read's are a very special part of my life and I will always treasure the memories I have of my time with them. I am glad we got to visit with them for a while yesterday.

The next stop was at Kelly's house. We had lunch and the boys napped at her place while we had a chance to catch up. Lucas slept on the couch while Ethan picked "his room" and some stuffed animals and crashed hard.

After nap, we went back to pick up Brian at The Davis'. Their daughter Megan is 5 days older than Ethan. They are expecting their 2nd child (a boy!) in July. Brian and Bryan worked together when we lived in Charleston.

Our last stop of the day was dinner and playtime with our friends The Davey's. Stephanie and I went to college together and have been friends ever since. Steph was 8+ months pregnant with her first child at my wedding. Now that's a friend!!

We had so much fun visiting with all our friends. Hopefully we will get to make another trip to see them soon. It had been a year since we had seen some of them! We left Charleston at 8:15 and pulled in the driveway at 10:00. It was a long day, but well worth it!

So far May has been a crazy month. Lucas is growing like a weed, I have gone back to work (from home for now), and we made our first trip to G'ville/S'burg since Lucas was born. We went to the upstate to celebrate my mom's birthday on Friday, May 8, Isaac's baby dedication, and Mother's day.

Mom, Val, and I went to the movies for mom's birthday...KID FREE!! It was great. We spent Saturday with Brian's family and Ethan had a blast playing with his cousins. Sunday was a very special day. Not only was it Mother's Day (my baby sister's first) but it was also Isaac's dedication. It was great to see Val and Neal stand before the church with Isaac in their arms. I am so glad we were able to be there.

Ethan received some Bathtub Crayons yesterday for a "big brother" present. Of course, he wanted to use them at bathtime. He got in the bathtub at 6:00 and I had to make him get out at 7:15 pm. He created a masterpiece on my bathtub tile:-)

On Saturday, February 7 Pepaw came to visit and help paint Lucas' room. Of course, Ethan would not allow Pepaw and Daddy to have all the fun so he got to paint too. This is a picture of Ethan and Pepaw standing in front of the wall Ethan helped paint.

Also, if you look closely you will notice that Ethan got a hair cut that morning as well. Yep, I did it...we cut his beautiful hair and he know looks like a "big brother."

On Sunday, February 8 we went to Monkey Business for Nick's birthday party. This is Ethan and daddy walking through the spinning tunnel.

On the information side, Brian's job is going well, Ethan is fully potty trained, and Lucas and I are both doing well. I went to the doctor today and everything is right on schedule. I will now be going weekly. We have scheduled an inducement for Tuesday, March 24 with Dr. Painter unless Lucas decides to come early or we need to induce prior to 40 weeks!

Well, we have been working hard on potty training and Ethan has been doing pretty well. He had a great weekend and asked last night if he could wear his underwear to school today. So, we tried it. I packed 2 sets of extra clothes, extra pull ups, and his potty seat (which he demanded went to school with him) and prayed for a successful day!

I picked him up at 3:45 this afternoon and he was wearing the same clothes I took him to school in! He came running as fast as possible towards me from the other side of the playground to tell me he used the potty all day! That's right, no accidents at school! I am so proud of him. Hopefully, he will keep this up and we are on our way!

In other news, Brian made it safely to NY yesterday evening. His first day of training today went well. It is extremely cold with snow everywhere so he is not venturing out very much. He will be back next Saturday, Jan. 24.

Belated Christmas Post

We celebrated three times! At our house on the Monday before Christmas, then on Christmas Eve with Brian's family, and on Christmas Day with my family. Ethan enjoyed each and every Christmas and is already picking out what he wants for next Christmas.

On this very day three years ago, Brian and I woke up at 5:30 am, put all our things in the car, and headed to Summerville Medical Center. We reported promptly at 6:30 am, as the doctor instructed, and met our fabulous nurse! The protocin was started at 8:00 am, the epideral came at 2:30, and Ethan arrived at 8:20 pm. It was a long day, but worth it to meet our son! Ethan Thomas Parsons was 7 lbs. 9 oz. and 20 1/2 inches long. Three years later he is 30 lbs. and 36 1/2 inches tall. Wow, does the time fly!

This past weekend I went to Savannah with two of my dearest friends, Kelly and Arlyn. We had an absolute blast! We stayed at the Olde Harbour Inn (which is a bed & breakfast) right on East River Street. Thanks to my fabulous hubby for solo parenting for a couple of days!

Saturday afternoon we ventured into the cool air and gentle breeze to find a pumpkin. Ethan had a great time picking out a pumpkin, playing on the playground, talking to the animals, and watching the pumpkin cannon send pumpkins hundreds of feet into the air.

Sunday night we went to the South Carolina State Fair. Ethan had a great time! We saw animals, ate lots of yummy food, and played in the "kiddie" section. All together, we spent entirely too much money, but had a blast!

This past Saturday was a busy day for us. Of course, it was Game Day for OU football so we decked out in our shirts and took a family picture.

Saturday morning (pre-game time) we went to the park. The weather was beautiful, it wasn't too crowded and Ethan had a blast.

This is my favorite picture. He looked over his shoulder at me and I just happened to snap at the right moment.

Saturday afternoon we went to Chuck E. Cheese with our friends Mark, Jenny, and Calvin. It was horribly crowded and we did not stay very long.

Overall it was a great but busy day. This Saturday is OU vs. Texas at noon, so the Sooner pride will be flowing! So, I would not recommend calling between 12:00 and 3:00.

I know I have been slack about updating the blog lately and for that I am sorry. Here are some fun, random pictures of Ethan and some pictures of the view I enjoyed while on my work trip to Colorado Springs. Enjoy!

Updates - I am now 15 weeks pregnant and feeling good. Brian was moved to a new position at work. Same lab, different group and position. He started this past Monday and so far so good. The best part about this move is he will no longer have to work weekends!!

12 week appointment

I had my 12 week appointment yesterday and all is good. The baby had a good strong heartbeat and all my blood work came back fine. They sent me off until October 9th!

I am still having headaches and am trying a few different things, but if anyone has suggestions please let me know! Hopefully with the ending of the first trimester they will begin to go away.

I am going to Colorado for a work conference in 2 weeks so it would be nice to feel great that week! I am keeping my fingers crossed.

We found out Tuesday that my sister is having A BOY!! No name yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Labor Day Weekend

We left last Thursday for Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort in Myrtle Beach and came back Monday. We had an absolute blast! The resort had a kids waterpark play area, 3 lazy rivers, and a million swimming pools along with direct beach access off of our room. Ethan's favorite part of the beach was to jump from a pile of sand into a waterhole that Brian created for him. I got some good pictures of him in the air!

The pictures are random and out of sequence, but blogger is being mean and will not let me move them.

We had our first ultrasound today. The baby is measuring 8 weeks with a due date of March 26. The heart beat was 162. We will have the anatomy ultrasound on Nov. 12 to find out the sex of the baby.

Sorry they are a little fuzzy. I used the scanner at work and it is old, but I wanted to go ahead and get them up. If you click on the picture it will get bigger and you can actually see the baby!

Brian turned the big 34 last Tuesday, July 29th. I threw him a bday party last Saturday to celebrate. Friends came up from Charleston, down from Greenville, and over from Columbia:-) It was a great time!

Two Lines and Three Tests!

We are having a baby! Yes, you read right, Ethan is going to be a big brother. After taking three pregnancy tests and all of them producing positives, we decided it must be true.

My first ultrasound will be August 15. For now, the tentative due date is March 26 which will balance out all the birthdays in the second half of the year!

I know the question on everyone's mind is "Will they find out the gender?" The answer is ABSOLUTELY and I will post it on the blog!

Sunday afternoon we went to the lake with our good friends Margaret Ann and Jeremy. Ethan had a blast on the boat and kept saying, "Go faster Jeremy, faster!" However, he was not too keen on swimming in the lake.

Ethan and I were playing outside waiting for Brian to get home from work. Ethan decided to go for a walk down the road and of course stays just far enough ahead of me so I cannot see what he is doing. At the end of the road there was a mud puddle. By the time I got around the curve to see what he was so excited about he was already covered in mud!

To celebrate the 4th of July, we ripped up the carpet downstairs and put down engineered hardwoods. Brian's parents came down and were a HUGE help.

A new used car!

We got a new car! Well, new to us. Last week we traded in my SUV for something with a third row. It is a 2005 Ford Freestyle, which is a crossover. So, SUV meets wagon. It is awesome. I love it! Lots of room, a third row, leather interior, handles great.....

Father's Day Weekend

Father's Day Weekend was very busy for us. Brian and I were both off on Friday and painted the downstairs. This is the first of several projects around the house.

One color down...two more to go.

Poor Kamdin...He sat against the wet wall twice and got paint on his fur. After that he hardly left this spot.

This color is called Bayside. We painted two walls in the living room with it. The other two are mochachino.

The finished product. The mochachino is in both rooms. The den is a seafoam green shade to compliment the blue in the living room. We are pleased with it!

Saturday morning we went to Saluda Shoals Park to play in the splash area and playground. Everyone had a blast.

Of course, Ethan and Daddy had to take a break for a snack.

Saturday afternoon we had a neighborhood block party. The family hosting it (Ryan, Stephanie, and Aubrey - pictured with Ethan) were very nice. We found out that Aubrey and Ethan go to the same daycare. She will be moving into his class in a month.

A Trip to the Upstate

Last weekend we went to visit family and friends in the Upstate. It was a quick trip, but we managed to fit a lot into 2 days. Friday night we got to my parents about 7:30, so needless to say Ethan was a ball of energy and did not crash until 9:30. Saturday morning it was off to Brian's parents.

The Morrison's (brian's sister and fam) came back a day early from vacation so we got to visit with them as well. Ethan had to wait outside for Tyler. As soon as he got out of the car, this is what commenced and lasted for several minutes. We never found out why the conversation was so serious.

After leaving The Parsons' headed back to The Thornhill's we made a detour to see Carly and baby Davis. Of course, Ethan found toys to play with, a giraffe and 2 elephants. He decided that Davis needed the giraffe and was giving it to him.

Carly and I are laughing because Ethan's little hand was patting Davis' back the entire time he "held" him.

I can officially announce that I am going to be an aunt!!!! Valerie and Neal are expecting a baby the end of December/first of January. So, Ethan had to go shopping and gave Baby Satterfield his/her first gift!

We also took a tub full of maternity clothes to Aunt Val and while we were looking through them Ethan decided to hand out clothes. He took the swimsuit top (which he is wearing in the picture), gave the bottoms to Uncle Neal, and gave a blouse to Daddy. Unfortunately, I did not get pictures of Uncle Neal and Brian sporting their attire.

All together, it was a great weekend! This weekend Brian and I are starting house projects beginning with painting the living room, den, and Ethan's room. Then on to crown molding and in a couple weeks hardwood floors. I will post before and after pictures of each project.

Water Fun and a New Park

We went to Saluda Shoals Park today with a friend, Nick, to play in the Splash Area. It was awesome! It has sprinklers, buckets that dump out water on your heads, trees that spray water...you get the point. Ethan had an absolute blast!

This past Saturday my mom came to visit and we held an open house. Check out some of the cool items. If you are interested in anything, let me know. This is just a sample of what she has and can get.

These are 2 items I got. The large tote ($25 with monogram) is great for overnight travel or beach trips. The smaller is a comestic bag ($23 with monogram) with 2 additional bags inside that velcro down so they don't fall out.

The travel mug is $17.95 with monogram and the soap dispenser is $14 with monogram. You can pick your fabric and it is easy to pull out and change for seasons, holidays, or special occasions.

On Saturday we had a birthday party for Peyton and Nolan Perry (I forgot my camera, but check out Kelly's blog for pics...3footballboysandagirl.blogspot.com) then we had friends over for dinner. The Sims' (Jessica, Tommy, Claire, and Lila) and The Rice's (Coni, Tim, Zoe, Clare, Lucy, and Henry). The kids had a great time playing outside and the adults were actually able to catch up.

Trains!

Brian had Monday off from work and spent part of his day driving to a consignment store in Irmo, loading a train table, coming home, and setting it up for Ethan's arrival from school. Ethan was ecstatic to say the least. He played trains until dinner, screamed when it was time to eat, ate very little quickly, asked to get down, and ran back up stairs to play trains until bath and then after bath until bed. Also, the trains had to go to bed with him.

We made the move to a big boy bed about a month ago. Ethan has been doing great. Since I was taking pictures of the train table in his room, thought I would share this too.

On Saturday we went to FamJam at our church. It is a time for families to worship together with music, skits, etc. This was the last one before summer break and we join forces with 2 other local churches for a huge outside extravaganza.

Family Beach Trip

Two weekends ago (april 5th) we left for Myrtle Beach. Valerie, Neal, Brian, Ethan and I went down on Saturday and mom and dad joined us late Sunday night. We had two beautiful days and two cool days, but lots of fun!

This was the day before we were leaving. Ethan was dying to go to the beach.

Aunt Valerie and Uncle Neal rented a golf cart our first day there. Ethan LOVED it. He gave Uncle Neal a running commentary of what to look for in the road.

We took advantage of the indoor pool which was a huge hit with Ethan.

Easter Weekend

We had a busy weekend. On Friday, Ethan and I went to Fox's Tree Farm. He got to plant a flower, ride a horse, and hold a baby rabbit. He had a blast. Then we went to Greenville for the weekend. On Saturday, we went to an easter egg hunt at Michelin with Brian's family. There were more eggs than you could ever imagine. On top of all this, Ethan got Easter baskets from Memaw and Pepaw, Aunt Valerie and Uncle Neal, and Granma and Granpa. So, we have plenty of candy in our house and some new fun toys. This past weekend Brian and I went to Charleston for my friend's 30th birthday party. We had a wonderful child free weekend thanks to Memaw, Pepaw, Aunt Valerie, and Uncle Neal who traded shifts b/t Friday and Sunday.

Kelly Stone (a friend from high school) decided to have an 80's theme party since we technically grew up in that decade. So, we pulled out the bad jewelry, the crimper, bad makeup and big hair. Below are pictures from the weekend including 2 cute ones of Ethan on the morning we left. Enjoy!

Oh, also while we were in town I got to visit the Read Family. To refresh your memory, this is the family I lived with (for a while) and was nanny to during college. They are all grown up now. It definitely made me feel old.

Yes, this is an informational post only. Brian has a new job! He interviewed for a position back in January that he really wanted, but we never heard back. Well last week (2 days after I started my new job), he got a call and an offer. So, that means he will no longer be able to keep Ethan the 3 afternoons I am working. Therefore, we have hired a babysitter. Her name is Meghan and she started yesterday. She is wonderful. Ethan loves her already and was upset when we got home and she had to leave last night. She will be watching him on Mondays and Tuesdays/Thursdays after preschool. So..............lots of changes at the Parsons' house. But all good! Please keep us all in your prayers as we adjust to everything.

Ethan's First Day of School

For those of you who don't know, the last 2 weeks at our house have been extremely interesting. I have inquired about, interviewed for, been offered, and accepted a part-time job. I am now working for Junior Achievement as their Special Events Manager. I will be handling their two fundraisers. So, Ethan started school today. He will be going two mornings a week. Brian will be picking him up from school so I can work a full day. This gives me some time in the professional world without comprising too much time at home, Ethan some structure and social time without mommy, and Brian and Ethan some time together 3 afternoons a week. Ethan did great this morning. He did not cry or even look back for me which of course gave me mixed emotions. So, here are a few snapshots of him this morning. Also, I believe (even though Brian doesn't) that Ethan's favorite part about mommy going back to work is the high heel shoes. Check the pics below.

A Warm Day in February

The weather has been so beautiful the past few days that Ethan has spent most of his time outside and has loved every minute of it.

Ethan's new fascination is CARS, both the movie and the actual toys. He asks for them first thing after he wakes up in the morning, throughout the day, and of course when daddy gets home. Daddy had to play cars so much that he insisted we buy some cooler cars. So, Ethan and I ventured to Wal-Mart to buy some cool cars. Now, it is cars nonstop! He usually watches CARS the movie while he eats breakfast and plays cars all at the same time. Below are some pics of his viewing set up which he created himself.

Playtime, both inside and out

Ethan was playing his imaginary guitar while marching around his tent in the background. As you can tell by his face and shirt this was taken after dinner and before bath and had been a long day. I am not sure what all the stains on his shirt are from, but they came out and that is all that matters.

Ethan has learned how to knock his tent and tunnel over. I snapped this just in time to catch the adorable face of surprise which hardly ever happens.

I had to go to the mailbox today so of course Ethan wanted to go with me. However, the real reason he wanted out was to see the bulldozer that was working across the street. So, we bundled up for our 15 minute venture in the yard. Ethan decided to copy mommy by putting his hands in his pockets which I think is adorable. However, since he was "warm" ,or so he told me, once his hands were in his pockets he did not want to go back inside.

Christmas Week

We were in Greenville from the Friday before Christmas until the Saturday after. We had a whole week of fun with family. Here are some of the highlights.

Memaw and Pepaw gave Ethan this adorable Chef hat and apron for him to wear when cooking in his kitchen. As you can tell by the picture, it was a hit.

Ethan got this tricycle for his birthday from "Aunt" Kelly. He has been working hard this week trying to learn to ride it and doing pretty well. Before long he will be all over the place and we will never be able to catch him.

After a while, Ethan had to take a rest from his tricycle and joined Kamdin on the floor. He actually sat down beside him and said "Mommy, camera, cheese!"

Ethan's 2nd Birthday

We cannot believe our little boy has turned 2, but it has happened! On Saturday, December 15th we started our morning with gifts from us, pancakes for breakfast with Aunt Valerie, Uncle Neal, Micah, and of course us. Then of course Micah and Ethan had to try out all the new toys.

Memaw and Pepaw arrived shortly thereafter with their presents. They, along with Aunt Valerie and Uncle Neal, gave Ethan a swing set. We got almost half of it put together when the torrential downpour started.

We celebrated Ethan's birthday party at FunZone with family and friends. Ethan's grandparents, Aunt Lindsay and 3 of his cousins were able to come from Greenville. We had a few friends from here and one of my oldest and dearest friends from high school, Kelly Stone, drove up from Charleston. Below are pictures from throughout the entire day. Enjoy!

Lights, Animals, and Marshmallows

We have had an exciting last couple of weeks. My parents came to visit December 7th and 8th and we all went to the zoo. Ethan had a great time showing Memaw and Pepaw the lights and the animals.

Ethan thought the goat licking his jacket was funny. Although, he did not want to pet the goat.

Ethan's favorite thing about the zoo lights (other than the sea lions) is the marshmallows. Yes, he had to have his own stick with 4 marshmallows and ate every last bite.

Aunt Valerie, Uncle Neal, and Micah (Neal's nephew) came to visit this past Friday, Dec. 14th and took Ethan with them to the zoo while Brian and I went to a Christmas Party. That made Ethan's 3rd trip to the zoo lights, yet he stilled loved every minute of it.

A Visit to Charleston

We went to Charleston on Saturday to visit friends and attend a birthday party. We all had a great time, but the best of all was Ethan got to see and play with his friends.

My friend from college, Stephanie and her husband Jason, just had their 3rd boy on Nov. 19th. They have Noah, 5, Owen, 2, and newest addition Sean. Ethan, Noah, and Owen were so excited to see each other and had a blast playing. Here are some pics.

Last week we went to Lights at the Zoo. They have over a million lights throughout the zoo. Some of the animals are left out (zebras, elephants, barnyard animals), but most are put away. Ethan loved the lights, but the highlight was the snow machine.

Ethan's new favorite "hang out" is FunZone. It has an indoor playground and inflatable bounce houses and slides. As you can see here, we built him a house of blocks and of course he wanted to play in it.

I remember when he was small enough for us to measure how long he was with a tape measure. Now he is big enough to do it himself.

This chair was a Christmas present last year from Memaw and Pepaw. Ethan sits in it to watch his videos and has become one of his favorite toys. He also uses it to climb on, in, and around.

Well, Thanksgiving is over and it is time to pull out the Christmas decorations. Ethan had a blast helping put up the tree. Before we put the lights and decorations on he crawled in and out of the tree calling it a tunnel.

Ethan was very excited to see Aunt Valerie and Uncle Neal.

We are continuing to learn our way around Lexington, have found a church we really like, and have even made a few friends.

This past week we received the most exciting news ever...Brian's dad's cancer is now in remission!! He is still having some health problems which they are still trying to figure out, but the cancer is gone!

This past weekend friends from Charleston were here for a visit which was really fun. Ethan enjoyed having a playmate around all the time.

Ethan also (for the first time) caught a football on Saturday! Brian has never been more proud! Of course, now all he wants to do is play catch with the football.

A Day At the Zoo

We went to the Riverbanks Zoo on Saturday and Ethan absolutely loved it. He showed the animals how to pose for the camera.

He loved the "elpants" and was very upset that he could not ride on a real one. Eventually, we convinced him to sit on the pretend one, but by the look on his face you can tell he was not happy.

The Roars or better known as Lions are Ethan's favorite animals. He was stunned and did not want to leave them. We walked past them several times. They were very active which was even more fun.

Ethan insisted that his cars had to go to the zoo too. However, the dilemma was that he has 3 colors (blue, green, and purple) and he had to pick 2 of them. As you can see on his fingers, he chose blue and green.

He also decided to talk to all the animals from our side of the fence which was fun to watch.

In the Bird Conservatory, there is a small play area which Ethan called the tunnels. I think he had more fun climbing on these then seeing the animals. I guess it is a boy thing!

We are settled!

Hey everyone. We are finally all in the same city and under one roof. We moved into the house on October 10th and all is going well. Ethan loves his new house and has adjusted remarkably well. We are enjoying Lexington and discovering new things every day. We will post pictures of the house soon.
